If the reading material overwhelms you try tools like gistweb.com, shortnews.com (I envisage a scenario where story writers can submit a short form of their story to a clearinghouse like maggwire as not everybody has the time to read through 5 pages of a single article unless it is extremely interesting or useful), instapaper, readitlater, etc.
To format long articles for easier reading on the eyes I recommend using something like Readefine.
